Cookie Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026The short version. We use a small number of cookies, and they are there to make the service work — to keep you signed in, to keep the site secure, and to stop bots. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Some are essential — without them you could not stay signed in. Others are optional, and the law says we need your consent before we set those.
2. The cookies we use
| Cookie | What it does | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookie (PHPSESSID or similar) | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages. Without it you would have to log in on every click. | Strictly necessary | Until you close your browser |
| “Remember me” | Keeps you signed in between visits, if you asked us to. | Strictly necessary (you chose it) | Up to 30 days |
| Cookie notice | Remembers that you have seen the cookie banner, so we do not show it again. | Strictly necessary | Up to 12 months |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Set by Google on our sign-up page, to tell real people from bots and stop fake accounts being created. | Security / anti-fraud | Varies — set by Google |
3. What we do not do
- We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.
- We do not sell data to advertisers.
- We do not build a profile of you across other websites.
4. Third parties
The only third party that sets a cookie through our site is Google, via reCAPTCHA on the registration form. It is there to stop automated abuse. Google’s own privacy notice explains what it does with that information.
When you pay, you are handed to Stripe, who set their own cookies on their checkout page to process the payment and prevent fraud. That happens on Stripe’s pages, under Stripe’s policy.
5. How to control cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings — every major browser lets you do this. Be aware that if you block essential cookies, you will not be able to sign in and the service will not work.
To find out more about cookies generally, see the ICO’s guidance.
6. Changes
If we add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
